Jacob Kissinger's obituary

Retired police captain Jacob H. (Jake) Kissinger, 903 N. Elliott St, died in Maxey Nursing Home at 11:55 a.m. yesterday. He had been ill since July.

Mr. Kissinger, 72, joined the force 31 years ago and was appointed captain on January 1, 1952, under the Roberts administration.

He had been a patrolman during the four preceding years, but was a sergeant most of the time since his rookie days. He held the rank of lieutenant in 1941. He retired in September, 1955, because of ill health.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Police.

Surviving are sons, Paul and Leo, both of Evansville; daughters, Mrs. Leona Althaus, Evansville, and Mrs. Dorothy Naughton and Mrs. Loretta Sheehan, both of Louisville; brothers, John and Alfred, both of Evansville; sisters. Mrs. Mary Robinson, Princeton, Mrs. Louise McCoy, Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. Magdalena Aman, Evansville, Mrs. Elfrieda Kalledso, Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. Valada Cummins, Louisville; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Christina M. (Holthaus), in 1939.

The body will be in Browning Memory Chapel after 6 p.m. today.
May he rest in peace throughout eternity.
