Robert John Copeland, Cass City
Died with his family by his side following a short illness Thursday, June 14, 2012 in St. Mary's of Michigan, Saginaw, at the age of 71. He was born June 6, 1941 in Cass City to Arnold George and Mildred Isabelle (Bartle) Copeland. He married Marcia C. Benedict June 6, 1964 in Marcia's parents' home in Marlette. Robert had a wonderful baritone voice when he was younger and sang for many area weddings. He was a member of a quartet while in high school. Bob served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam Era. He was an owner of the Copeland Gornowicz Insurance Agency for 39 years, changing the name to Copeland Insurance Agency in 2007 and working the last several years with his son. He enjoyed horses, especially harness racing many years ago. Bob was a Michigan State Spartan fan watching many sporting events on television. He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren watching them at their school activities. Robert is survived by his wife, Marcia; children, Mark (Susan) Copeland of Deford, Tracy King of Cass City; grandchildren, Whitney (Evan) Laurie, Melissa Keezer, Mason Copeland, Riley Copeland, Gideon King, Michael King; sisters, Phyllis Sullivan of Knoxville, TN, Bonnie (Arnie) Alexander of Bay City; brother, Kirk Copeland of Bay City and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Dale and his parents.Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Rev. Jackie Roe of Cass City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment is in Novesta Township Cemetery
