Mrs Babbitt was born on 28 Dec 1846 at Waukegan, Ill., and was the daughter of Walton ad Sarah Berry Eddy. They moved to Cherry Creek around 1851 and then to Randolph around 1857. In 1885, she married George Lake of Randolph and they had one daughter, Florence Louise, now Mrs. Lloyd Evarts. Mr. Lake passed away in 1899 and she married E. W. Babbitt (aka Edwin R. Babbitt; reference 1915 NY Census, district 1, pg 1, Main Street, Randolph, NY) of Randolph in June 1902. Mr. Babbitt passed away in Nov 1924, after which she went to live with her daughter when her West Main street home was dismantled.

Mrs. Babbitt was a genial woman, who will be remembered for her humanitarianism and loved by all who knew her. She was also a long time member of Grace Episcopal church in Randolph.

Surviving besides her daughter were three sisters, Mrs. Clara E. Phillips & Mrs. Janette R. Razey of Miami, FL; and Mrs. Frances Sheldon of Randolph. A brother, F. J. Eddy, who died six years ago. She also has a granddaughter, Ethel Janette Evarts, Wheeling, WV., and three nephews, James C. Sheldon of Glen Cove, NY; Charles Sheldon, Key Port, NJ; and George E. Phillips, Miami, FL.

The remains were brought to Randolph and funeral services were conducted from the Hoitink Funeral Home on Main Street, officiated by Rev. O. H. Glynn Lloyd, rector of Grace church. Interment was made in the Randolph cemetery. Those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Evarts, Mrs. Albert Kraus; and many friends of the family. Those acting as bearers: J. L. Quinion, Ray Fargo, J. J. Young and Leslie Evarts.
