Peggy Collins, of Toms River, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, having battled cancer for many years, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. She was born in Coronado, California on Oct. 21, 1931, the daughter of Alfred Gransmore and Elizabeth Margueritte Laing. She and Robert, her husband of over 50 years, along with their two daughters moved to Toms River in 1970.

She is survived by her husband, Lcdr. Robert Emmet Collins, originally of Roslindale, Massachusetts; her daughters, Kathleen Mary Collins and husband Mark Harper, Colleen Elizabeth Cox and husband David, and Lori Ann Thompson and husband Bill; her grandchildren, Aidan Harper, Courtney and Christopher Cox, Tiffany Garrow and Justin Elliot; and one great-granddaughter, Riley Van Renselaar. Her parents and brother, John McGee Laing and his wife, Ila, predeceased her.

Peggy was an avid bridge player. She was a 28-year member of the Community Memorial Center Auxiliary Association, having served as the president for two years, as well as the Auxiliary Association Coordinator for the Hospital Gift Shop for some 15 years. Peggy and her husband were longtime members of the Toms River Yacht Club and the Toms River Country Club and she was a member of Gulls on the Go.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Peggy at the Tomms River Country Club. All are invited and welcome to join her family in celebrating her incredible life.
