Born May 15, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY. George was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in 1951-1955, including a tour of duty on USS Intrepid. He later retired from Bell Telephone Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ to Sunset Beach, NC. There, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, table tennis, and camping. He participated in the Senior Olympics and won several medals. George was loved by many, and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Doris. He is also survived by the children of his first wife, Elizabeth Ann Barna (deceased), Michael, George, William, Thomas, CJ, Mary Beth, Nancy, and KT, their spouses; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sisters, Loretta and Eileen, their spouses and children.

A Celebration of Life was held at at the Church of the Servant, 4925 Oriole Drive, Wilmington, NC. Services are entrusted to Hardee Mortuary Service, 5 North 12th St., Wilmington, NC.
