Earby Gene Good, 82, of Elkton, passed away June 7, 2012, at his home.

Gene was born April 23, 1930, near Elkton, the son of the late Wilmer Jack and Addie Elizabeth Breeden Good.

He was a disabled Army veteran of the Korean War, and worked at Alliance Inc. in Shenandoah a number of years. He farmed most of his life, and was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ.

Gene is survived by his wife, Sharon Lawson Good; sons, Earby Gene Good Jr., and wife, Tongia, Timberville, Gerald Good and wife, Gwen, Harrisonburg; daughters, Charlotte "Lou" Good Berry and husband, Tim, Elkton, Lisa Good Bailey, and husband, Scott, Elkton; a brother, Wilmer (W.C.) Good, Elkton; sisters, Pansy Shifflett, Elkton, Delores Frazier, Gainesville, Va., Betty Campbell, Shenandoah, Ann Fielding, Elkton; nine grandchildren, Aaron S. Good, Katie M. Good, Megan E. Berry, Caleb S. Berry, Ashley Shoemaker, Jennifer Good, Annie M. Bailey, Stephanie E. Bailey, and Stacie L. Bailey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte Marie Roudabush Good, in 1983; brothers, Charles, Cecil and Robert Good; sisters, Lou Emma Good Stover, Helen Good Kisling and Nellie Good Meadows.

Pastor Sam Sponaugle, Pastor Dan Bassett and Elder Ben Cubbage will conduct the funeral service at the Bethel United Church of Christ, near Elkton Sunday afternoon June 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery near Elkton, with graveside rites by the Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292 of Elkton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
