John Wilson Hughes was the son of Samuel Hughes and Nancy Polly Plummer (death certificate name was scratched out and interpreted as Peppmyer,however it looks like it may be Plummer, named that was scratched out was Copple, other docs point to Plummer). John and Nancy's death Certificate state Hughes Graveyard. The known children were William, Sarah Sallie l. ,Rebecca Jane, Julia Claire, Allison Lindsay, Samuel Lee Hughes and John Franklin Hughes.
Update: email received regarding name of mother of John Wilson Hughes from a Lara M. Phillips states, "Her name was Mary Polly, not Nancy. Her name is Mary on all census records and she is named Mary is her father's estate records, Mary Hughes, widow of Samuel Hughes when she petitions for widow's support and her name is Mary on John Wilson Hughes's death certificate."
