Mr. Nielsen was the retired owner of Lee E. Nielsen Produce Co. He had also worked for Kennecott Copper Corp., and the Salt Lake County Road Department. In addition, he had been a rancher and interstate trucker.
Mr. Nielsen had served on the "Days of '47" Rodeo and Parade Committee for over 25 years and had served as the group's chairman. He was a member of the United Fresh Fruits Association and the Ute Rangers Riding Club. He was a member of the Ambassador Athletic Club.
An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Nielsen was a high priest and ordained temple ordinance worker. He had been active in the Boy Scouts program.
Mr. Nielsen was born Feb. 28, 1908, in South Jordan, to Hans and Pauline Page Nielsen. He married Edna May Shulsen Aug. 15, 1933, in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mre. Kenneth L. Myrick Jr., Sandy; brothers, sisters, Galen P., Mrs. Tom E. (Wilda) Hayden, both Salt Lake City: Phil, Ralph H., both Sandy; Rulon S.,Paul W., both South Jordan; Mrs, Albert A. (Glenden)Smith, Provo: Mrs. M.J. (Iris) Dahl, Deeth, Nev.; and Mrs. Junior (Vestal) Beckstead, Riverton.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Ensign LDS Ward Chapel, 9th Ave. and D St. Friends may call one hour before services Wednesday at the ward chapel. Burial will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
