Howie was a soft-spoken and kind-hearted gentleman. He was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, having been stationed in Canada, Sardinia and Germany. At retirement from the force, he held the rank of Squadron Leader. Howie then had a long career as an accountant in Ottawa and Calgary. In his leisure time, he enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, golfing, curling and playing cards. He was a wonderful friend to many. Above all, he was devoted to providing for the happiness of his family.
