SERGT. R.A.. Co. A 12th Mo. Cav.- OBITUARY: Died at his home in Steelville January 23, 1910, Robert A. Ailes age 79 years, 21 days. Mr. Ailes was born in Clayborn County Tennessee January 1, 1821. He came to Missouri in the early fifties settling in Crawford County. About a year before coming to Missouri he married Miss. Mary Bussell to them were born ten children, seven who are living. The mother died in 1882. In 1886 he married Miss. Susan Usher, who died about 1890. Four children were born to this union, one who is living. November 18, 1892 he married Mrs. Electic Ashworth who with two daughters of this union survive him. At the outbreak of the Civil War he gave himself to the Union cause, enlisting in the 12th Missouri Cavalry. He participated with others in the battle of Helena, Nashville, and Lookout Mountain. At the close of the war he returned to his home in Crawford County.

OBITUARY: The infant twins left by the wife of Robert Ales died Monday.They were buried beside their mother. July 3, 1890

SUSAN S. wife of R.A. died June 26, 1890 age 33 years - OBITUARY: Susan S. Ailes wife of Robert Ailes and daughter of Seth C. Massey died at her home seven miles south of Steelville on Saturday, leaving one day old twins and seven other children. She was the widow Usher when she married Mr.Ailes on November 4, 1883.
