FOY R. MALOY SR., 82, Winter Garden, died Monday, Oct. 17. He was born in Opp, Ala., on Dec. 28, 1928. In 1931, he and his family moved to Winter Garden during the Great Depression. He attended Winter Garden Elementary School and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1947.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served two years of active duty and four years of reserve duty. Later, in civilian life, he was an agent for United Life Insurance Co. for five years. He then established the New York Life Insurance Agency in Winter Garden and was an agent with the company for 26 years. Because of his dedication and reputation, this office is still in operation in Winter Garden. He served three two-year terms on the Winter Garden City Commission from 1964-1970. He was a member of the Winter Garden Lions Club with perfect attendance for 20 years. He was on the Board of Trustees for the State of Florida School of the Deaf and Blind in St. Augustine for four years.

Foy became a Christian in 1950 and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Winter Garden. He served as a Sunday school teacher, adult Sunday school director and deacon.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Nell Shelton Maloy; 3 sons, Foy Jr., Rick (and Marcia) and Craig (and Teresa) Maloy; six grandchildren, Amber and Foy Tyler, Breckenridge, Colo., Tiffany and Ashley, Orlando, and Joshua and Megan, Winter Garden.
