Alvin Clyde Barton was born in Franklin County (1 1/2 miles north of 68 highway from Briles school house on the east side of the road where Grandpa and Grandma William Barton homsteaded after the Civil War about 1864 or 1865)

He had a series of heart attracts in early 1950's and died in his sleep at 314 Locust Street in Wellsville Kansas. He lived next door to Nina, his daughter on one side and the Methodist Church on the other.

Clyde liked to play the guitar and french harp. He also played the violin some.

He was a farmer most of his life. When he left farming he and his wife moved to Wichita, Kansas and worked for a woodworking shop for a few years. They then moved back to Baldwin, Kansas where he laminated thin pieces of wood together and made into items or crafts. He made several things for family and friends. After retirement he and Grandma moved to Wellsville to spend their remaining years. He always kept a garden and kept busy with wood crafts.
