CPL. Manuel Abascal, was born on Aug. 18, 1924, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Abascal of Eagle Pass; entered the Army 45th Inf. Div. on July 16, 1943, at San Antonio; trained at Camp Wolters, Texas. He went overseas in Jan., 1944; served in campaigns of Po Valley, Rome-Arno, Apennines; re-assigned to Hdqs. at Senigalia (Italy), Corsica, Sardinia, and last to Sinaia (Romania). Awarded Sharpshooter, Good Conduct, ETO Medals with 3 Stars, and Combat Inf. Badge. Still overseas with 2621 Gru. Det.
