Belgian Princess. She was the second wife of King Leopold III. Born Mary Lilian Baels, and daughter of an officer of the State, she was elevated to the rank of Princess after her marriage with the king, privately celebrated on September 11, 1941. During the World War II, she was deported to Germany with her husband and the son Alexander until 1945, when she was liberated by American troops. She is remembered for his commitment to cardiology research.
