Mrs. Laher was born in Dayton on March 15, 1924, the daughter of the late James and Gladys Lowry Abel. She had lived all of her life in Dayton where she was a graduate of Rhea Central High School's class of 1942. In 1947 she graduated from Tennessee Tech and then was employed as a caseworker for the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services until her retirement 33 years later. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Dayton.
Mrs. Laher was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Laher.
Survivors include her three brothers, Felix Abel and Elbert Abel, both of Dayton and Clifton Abel of Franklin, Tenn.; step-daughter, Debbie Roberts of Dayton; two step-sons, Keith Laher of Dayton and Jay Laher of East Ridge, Tenn.; eight step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 3, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Vanderwall Fuenral Home with Rev. Milton Knox officiating. Burial will follow at Abel Cemetery in Dayton.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 2, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
