A biography and descendants have not been located.
In Russell Mahan's 'The Battle of Fayetteville, Arkansas' he writes:
'One Confederate soldier by the name of James Davis was wounded in the fighting. He was 43 years old and a resident of Fayetteville. He managed to get to his own home, where he collapsed, and died the following day. he is now buried in the Confederate cemetery not far from where the battle took place.'
