Ruby Hager Cauthen, 92, of 1051 Stovebridge Circle, Athens, Georgia, died Friday, July 27, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Cauthen was born on November 5, 1914, in Iredell County to the late Eugene S. Hager Sr. and Connie Hager. She was retired from McNeer Dillon Co. as a floor supervisor. She was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and a member of New Amity ARP Church.
Mrs. Cauthen was married to J. Howard Cauthen, who preceded her in death. Along with her husband, Mrs. Cauthen was preceded in death by three brothers, Caude Hager, Vance Hager and J.P. Hager, who died at infancy, and one sister, Blanche Sherrill. Mrs. Cauthen is survived by one son, Jim Cauthen and his wife, Patricia, of Watkinsville, Ga.; one granddaughter, Andrea Sargent and her husband, Kenneth, of Monroe, Ga.; a grandson, Joshua Cauthen and his wife, Lisa, of Canton, Ga.; two great-granddaughters, Ava Sargent of Monroe, Ga., and Natalie Cauthen of Canton, Ga.; two sisters, Dorothy Woods of Statesville and Jean Barron of Autaguville, Ala.; two brothers, Eugene Hager of Statesville and P.A. Hager of Atlantic Beach, Fla.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ben Wingard officiating. Interment will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Masoleum. The family will receive friends 2 until 3 p.m. today at Nicholson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Amity ARP Church, P.O. Box 127, Scotts, NC.
