Candler - Edna Lavelda Patterson Letterman, 90, formerly of 42 Fairmont Road, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2005 at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center after an extended illness.

Born in Copper Hill, TN, Mrs. Letterman resided most of her life in Buncombe County. She was a member of Good News Baptist Church.

She was the daughter of the late Johnny David and Mary Alice Cole Patterson, and the wife of Uri Letterman, who passed away October 8, 1979. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Patterson, and two sons: David Letterman and Anthony Letterman.

Surviving are her two sons: Joseph Letterman and wife Donna of Asheville, and Roger Letterman and wife Wanda of Candler; her two daughters: Dianna Taylor of Candler and Roma Bullman and husband Monroe of Candler; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
