Jameson Andrew "Bubby" Lam, age 4, earned his angel wings on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the UVA Medical Center after courageously fighting a month long illness.

He was born August 15, 2007, and was the beloved son of Jason Andrew and Shannon Ball Lam of McGaheysville. Jameson was named to honor his great-grandfather, James Myers, and his father, Jason Lam.

Jameson is survived by his 11 year old sister, Savanah "Sissy" Gochenour, of Williamsburg; his grandparents, Bruce and Jeannie Lam of Penn Laird; great-grandparents, Kathleen Lam of Elkton, and James and Betsy Myers of McGaheysville; his aunt and uncle, Candice and Gerald Gordon and cousins, Quentin and Nathan, all of Grottoes.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, G. Wayne Ball, and great-grandfather, S. Leroy Lam.

Bubby was known for his beautiful smile, silky blond hair, and radiant blue eyes that touched the soul of all who met him. He was a Pre-K Special Education student at South River Elementary School, where he was an exceptional student. Jameson looked forward to riding the "big yellow bus" to school every day. His favorite class was music, and he enjoyed chasing the other kids in PE class. He loved his awesome Sissy, and they made each other laugh uncontrollably. He could always be found playing with his trucks or Thomas the Tank Engine, and watching the movies, Cars and Finding Nemo. Jameson also enjoyed watching the TV channel Sprout, and watched The Goodnight Show every night before Mommy would read him Goodnight Moon (twice).

Jameson was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, but he refused to be held back by his "disabilities." Jameson could recite the entire alphabet, in American Sign Language, at 2 1/2 years old. By the age of 4, he knew hundreds of signs and could drive his power wheelchair on his own. After winning a nationwide photo contest in the Fall of 2011, Jameson was featured in the Winter 2012 edition of the Spina Bifida Association's magazine, Insights Into Spina Bifida.

Posthumously, Jameson was made an honorary member of the Grottoes Rescue Squad, where his father is an EMT. After the service, Jameson will receive a Sea of Blue salute from the rescue squad members, and will be taken to the post-service meal, via ambulance, driven by his father.

Jameson's great-uncle, Pastor David Ball, will conduct a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. The family will receive friends following the service. Feel free to dress casually, and please wear bright colors to help the family celebrate the life of this amazing child.

Honorary pallbearers will be; Jameson's home health nurses, who lovingly assisted with his care throughout his life, and whom he adored in return, his teachers and classmates at South River Elementary, as well as his very special bus driver, Charles Rothgeb.

Bubby, we love you and already miss you tremendously. So, until you greet us in heaven, *high five, fist bump, point, thumbs up, roar, we love you, roar.*
