KANNAPOLIS – William Horace "Bill" Duckett, 87, of Kannapolis and formerly of 49 Johnston Blvd., Asheville passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006.
A native and resident for most of his life of Buncombe County he had resided in Kannapolis since 2003. He was the son of the late William Dow and Amanda Elkins Duckett.
Mr. Duckett was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran and retired in 1983 following 40 years of service with the Asheville Citizen-Times. He was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church where former member of the Bill Pettit Sunday School Class and former Sunday School Superintendent.
Surviving are his wife, Daisy Blackburn Duckett; step-sons, Steve Hinson of Kannapolis and Keith Hinson of Chattanooga, TN; 10 step grandchildren & 1 step great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Enoch Ball, Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and prior to his services Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
