Info Added by Randy Eutsler :
William Orville Allen was born in 1849, the son of Loren & Margaret (Napier) Allen. The 1850 census shows the family in Clinton Twp; and the 1860 census shows the family in Cass Twp.

William was named after his father's brother, and at the time of the census on 13 Sep 1850 his Uncle Asahel (another of his father's brothers) was living with the family. Listed as being age 1 at that time and going by the name of Orville.

On 25 Jun 1860 in Cass Twp., Michigan City P.O. area of the census he is listed as Orvill age 10.

(That reflects his birth between Jun and Sep of 1849. Having turned 1 already in 1850, but not turned 11 yet in 1860.)

After his death in 1863, being age 13-14; his family moved west to Nebraska.

He has 3 younger siblings : George, Jeremiah "Jerry", and Samantha "Mantie".

Family verbal history of Jerry says that there was a member of the family that was a Drummerboy during the Civil War. After the death of my Grandfather Wes Shoults, I received an envelope with some items, and one was a Ribbon. I no longer have the ribbon but I did take photos of it. I would suspect that William Orville Allen was the veteran and probably was Killed In Action during the beginning of the War. He was the eldest child, and his brothers George and Jerry were both too young being 9 & 7 respectively.
