Asheville - Howard Thomas Wise, 91, died Monday February 16, 2009 at St. Joseph's Campus after a period of declining health.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was the former owner and operator of Wise's Garage and a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII having received several medals including the Purple Heart.
He was a son of the late David and Loretta Haney Wise and the husband of the late Theo Banks Wise. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Tony "Arvel", Roy and Floyd Wise.
Surviving are his daughter, Virginia "Jeni" Honeycutt and husband Clayton of Rogersville, TN; grandsons, Kelvin Honeycutt and wife Danielle of Leicester and Jason Honeycutt and wife April of Asheville; sister, Bonnie Cooper of Powhatan, VA and great grandchildren, Karla, Chance, Aiden and Rylan Honeycutt.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Larry Sprinkle and James Lamb officiating.
Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with military honors provided by the Buncombe County Veteran's Council Memorial Team.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
