Asheville – Thea Doshia Wilds Lunsford, 85, of 50 Kenwood Street, passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at her home.
A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County the past 50 years and attended Gospel Baptist Church in Woodfin.
Mrs. Lunsford was the daughter of the late John Wesley Wilds and Margaret Emma Wallens Wilds and the wife of James Henry Lunsford who died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Rufus and Shuford Wilds and sisters, Lois Norton and Eunice Rice.
Surviving are her daughters, Wilma Funk of Church Hill, TN and Mildred Solesby & husband, Buddy of Asheville; son, Robert Lunsford of Asheville; grandchildren, Phyllis & Jeff Sprouse, Brenda Kovacs, Lisa Fisher, Michelle Brown, Chris Funk, Jan Pitts, Eva Gowan, and Ed, Ronnie & Bruce Solesby; 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin, CarePartners Hospice Chaplain and Rev. Homer Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Mark Kovacs, Ian Kovacs, Bruce Solesby, Jeff Sprouse, Michael Sprouse, Tom Pitts and Chris Funk serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
