LEICESTER – Ralph Edward Dills, 80, of 44 Gibbs Road passed away Wednesday February 10, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.
He was a native of Macon County, had resided in California for 32 years prior to moving to Buncombe County in 1989.
Mr. Dills retired as a Sheet Metal Mechanic from the Long Beach Naval Shipyard and was a Korean War Veteran of the US Navy.
He was the son of the late William Sherman Dills and Lillie Mashburn Dills and was also preceded in death by brothers, William Arthur Dills, Richard Carl Dills, Don Dillard Dills and Wilburn Clyde Dills; sisters, Alice Robinson and Vertie Justice.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Ruby Jelene Hawkins Dills of the home; daughter, Brenda Joyce Dills of Corpus Christi, Texas; sons, Edward Ray Dills and fiancee, Jackie both of Asheville and Robert Wayne Dills and wife, Teri Bell both of Tomales, CA; grandson, Nicholas Edward Dills of Tomales, CA.; sister, Artie Grant of Washington State and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
