He was born December 21, 1925 to the late John Fate and Lear Elizabeth Cogdill. He was retired after 30 years from Oriental Rug Company.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Lorene and his dear children, Debbie and husband Robert of Aiken, SC, Cheryl and husband Bill of Greenville, SC, Tony and wife Caryn, Robert and wife Darlene, Carolyn and Richard, Jr. all of Weaverville and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by two sisters, Gladys Cogdill and Pat Ford both of Weaverville and his loving companion Skipper.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Jeffery Massey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
