Served in the Army Tank Corps from 1944-1946 and was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal

Harry was born to Byron and Bertha Robbins Killian. He graduated from Shickshinny High School in 1937. He married Dorothy Folk on June 29, 1940, and they raised two sons.

Before he married, Harry was employed by the Glen Alden Coal Company at the Bliss Colliery. He attended Empire Barber School under the G.I. Bill and after graduation, served as a barber at Samson Air Force Base in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. Between 1955-1960 he worked for the Walled Lake Door Company in Nescopeck, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania as a shop foreman and plant manager. He served as police chief in Berwick, Columbia County, Pennsylvania from 1972 until his retirement in 1980. He was cited for bravery above and beyond the call of duty and received a Citation of Merit from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
