Gilbert E. Long
Gilbert E. "Gib" Long Former auto mechanic enjoyed hunting, fishing Gilbert E. "Gib" Long, 92, of 211 W. Ninth St., Bloomsburg, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, where he had been admitted Saturday. Before living with his son for the past 1 1/2 years, he had been a lifelong resident of Bloomsburg. Mr. Long had been ill for 18 months. Born April 1, 1910, in Bloomsburg, he had been an automobile mechanic for the former Housenick Ford, Bloomsburg, for most of his career, retiring in 1975. Mr. Long was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 623, Bloomsburg, and the Greenwood Valley Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His wife, the former Gladys M. Kyttle, died Nov. 6, 1997. A sister, Pearl Long, also died previously, as did a brother, Max Long. He is survived by a son, Theodore "Ted" Long, and a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Frances Dolly) George, both of Catawissa; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Allen Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Bloomsburg, with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick.
