Elmer Lee Lawson, 80 of Elkton, died May 14, 2012 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Lawson was born January 17, 1932 in the Swift Run area of Elkton, and was the son of the late Joseph Lurty and Lydia Ann Shifflett Lawson.

Mr. Lawson was a lifetime resident of the area, and attended Swift Run School in his youth. He retired from Brockway in Harrisonburg, after 32 years of service. He attended the Elkton Pentecostal Church. He liked to garden, go to auctions, have yard sales and buy, sell and trade. He was a former member of the Harrisonburg Moose Lodge.

On January 15, 1955 he married Lorraine (Collier) Lawson, who survives. Also surviving is a sister, Violet Davis, Elkton, special sister in law, Sylvia Gooden Dovel & husband, Jerry, Elkton; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Otis Lawson, and a sister, Clarice Smith.

The Rev. Travis Hensley and Rev. Samuel Sponaugle will conduct the funeral service 2:00 Friday afternoon May 18, 2012 at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel, in Elkton. Burial will follow in the Elk Run Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 ~ 8:00 at the funeral home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Lawson home at anytime.
