He was a kind man and always helped others if he could. He loved to camp and fish.
He passed away in Western Baptist Hospital on March 23, 2001 while waiting to be discharged from the hospital.
He married Charlotte Geneva Hardeman Massey on Nov. 17, 1978.
He never had children however he had 3 step daughters:
Connie Booher, Deanna Booher & Deneen Dixon

Services for Rubin M. Hughes, 61, of West Paducah will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. The Rev. Tom Starks and Doug Phillips will officiate, with burial in Palestine United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Hughes died at 4:45 Friday at Western Baptist Hospital.
A native of Paducah, Mr. Hughes was a self-employed auto mechanic.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Charlotte Hardeman Hughes; his mother, Lula A. Smith Hughes of Paducah; three daughters, Connie Booher and Deanna Booher, both of West Paducah, and Deneen Woodford of Kevil; three sisters, Doris Winnett and Wilma Roach, both of Paducah, and Elvadean Hamilton of Taylor, Mich.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe D. Hughes, and two brothers.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
