Justice of the Peace, a clerk and supervisor. Farmington storekeeper and banker. In 1850, he was elected a Democratic member of the House of Representatives. In 1864, he was again selected as a member of the House of Representatives. This time, serving two terms and was chosen speaker of the House in his second term. He ended his service in the legislature by retiring from his term of office in the senate, in 1870.
