James C. Appleby, 58, Oakville, died Saturday at Ball Hospital following a three-month illness. He was a native of Albany, Ky., moved to Shelbyville in 1937 and came to Delaware County in 1945.
Mr. Appleby served with the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.
He formerly worked for H.J. Greene Co. and Halteman Homes and presently owned and operated Jim's Plumbing Service.
Survivors include his wife, Antha; two daughters, Linda Jones, Springport, and Carolyn Mills, Oakville; one son, Michael L. Appleby, Muncie; wo brothers, Travis and Sherman Appleby, both of Albany, Ky.; one sister, Hazel Cummings, Albany, Ky. and two grandsons.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Meeks Mortuary with Rev. Wes Ellis, pastor of Oakville Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Springport Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday and prior to services Tuesday.
