Henry J. Baumis 82 of 508 S. 21st Street, died in Home Hospital at 3 a.m. today. He had been in ill health for four years. Born in Yeoman, Mr. Baumis was reared in Tippecanoe County and spent most of his life in Lafayette. He married Nellie D. Stombaugh on September 9, 1920. Mr. Baumis was proprietor of the Ideal Repair Shop at Fourth and South streets and at North Eighteenth Street 1921-1968 when he retired. He formerly operated a repair shop in Brookston. Mr. Henry Baumis was responsible for building the curly-q-slide at Columbian Park.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWI in France. He was a member of the Congress St. United Methodist Chruch, American Legion Post 11 and VFW Post 1154.
Surviving beside his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Rohrabaugh , Lafayette, and Mrs. Denzil (Helen) Flynn, Garden grove, CA; two sons, John, Casper,WY and Jeff Lafayette, three sisters, Mrs Opal Chaney and Mrs. Henrietta Rock, both of Buchanon, MI, Mrs. John (Edna) Hudson of Lafayette.
