Ben Wulfekuhl was born March 28, 1906, at Padua, Minnesota to Joseph and Mary (Goettle) Wulfekuhl. He moved to Donnybrook, as a small child, with his parents. Later they moved to Roseland Township of Burke County, where they farmed.
He married Violet Pumarlo on October 27, 1930, at Kenmare, N.D. Following their marriage, he continued to farm in Roseland Township until 1952, when they moved into Kenmare. In 1953, he began working for the Kenmare Farmers Union Oil Company as a truck driver, retiring in 1971.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, and the Church Holy Name Society. He served as Roseland Township Supervisor from 1935 to 1943 as well as township treasurer from 1946 to 1954. He also served as township Justice of the Peace.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Keith, Hickum Air Force Base, Hawaii, Marvin, Biloxi, Mississippi, and Richard, Fountain, Colorado. There are two daughters: Mrs. Marlene Blake, Seattle, Washinton, and Mrs. Richard (Diane) Grenvik, Gillette, Wyoming.
Three brothers: Leo, Missoula, Montana; Alphonse, Thompson Falls, Mont.; and Peter, Kenmare, N.D. Four sisters: Mrs. Carl Mettler, Minneapolis, Mn.; Mrs. Martin Larson, Grand Forks, N.D.; Mrs. Floyd Pumarlo and Mrs. Mike Bauer, both of Missoula, Mont.
There are 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
The funeral is being held at 10:30 a.m. today, July 26 in St. Agnes, Catholic Church, Kenmare, with Rev. Joseph Adkins officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery. The pallbearers are: Keith, Marvin, and Richard Wulfekuhl, Richard Grenvik, Ronald Pumarlo and David Pumarlo.
Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, is in charge of arrangements.
