She was born on February 4, 1895 at Brookville, OH, a daughter of Levi and Mary Ellen (McFarland) Landis. They came to this area and homesteaded SE of Kenmare in 1897. She was married to Henry Marquis Schammel on Nov. 14, 1913 at Minot and they farmed east of Kenmare. They moved in to Kenmare and he died in September of 1944. She remained in Kenmare since that time. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Degree of Honor Lodge and the Senior citizens, all of Kenmare.
She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Odell) Anderson of sun Lakes, AZ, and Mrs. Forrest (Vivian) Ankenbauer of Minnewauken; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Orin (Maybelle) Ankenbauer of Troutdale, OR.
