Rev. Mark Bittner officiated, Mrs. Irene Gravesen was organist and Mrs. Linda Freeman sang. Pallbearers were Clifford Kling, Floyd Gravesen, Don Gravesen, Bob Bjorgan, Bob Mahlum and Craig Livingston. Interment was in St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Kenmare, with Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Sauk Prairie Township, Ward County, a son of Henry and Ruth Schammel. He was reared there and farmed with his family in the area. He retired from farming in 1969. He formerly was married to May Jorgenson.
Survivors include a son, Danny, Aurora, Colo.; daughter, Mrs. Darryl (Sandra) Pickens, Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren; mother, Kenmare; sisters, Mrs. Odell Anderson, Sun Lakes, Ariz., Mrs. Vivian Ankenbauer, Minnewaukan.
