A retired employee of J.P. Stevens, Victor Plant, and a member of Apalache Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Lonita (Powell) Vaughn; granddaughter, Janice Vaughn-DeVito; brother, Arnold Stokes; and sister, Virginia Heath.
Also predeceased by a brother, Louie James Stokes (1910–1976), Woodroe Harold Stokes (1917–2010), Cecil Alexander Stokes (1918–1994), Willie Boyd Stokes (1922–1924), and Arnold Thomas Stokes (1924-2020); and sisters, Cora Lee Stokes Dill (1905–2008), Etta Mae Stokes Wooten (1908–2003), Martha Ann Stokes (1926–1927), and Colleen Stokes Banks1928–2011.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 12, 2012, at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Eddie Cooper; the burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was held 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, May 11, 2012 at The Wood Mortuary.
