Mabel Lecta Edwards, 88, Iberia, died Tuesday at Capital Region Medical Center-Southwest. She was born May 9, 1909, in Miller County, a daughter of Francis M. and Mary Ardelia Morrow Humphrey. She was married April 17, 1934, in Houston, to George Tony Edwards, who died March 2, 1964.

A lifelong resident of Iberia, she worked many years as a receptionist for the guest house at Ft. Leonard Wood, and also as a food service supervisor for Tan-Tar-A. She was a member of Iberia First Christian Church and the Women's Progressive Farmers Association.

Survivors include: one stepson, James Edwards, Tuscumbia; one brother, Truman Humphrey, Iberia; one sister, Erma Farnham, Iberia; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. One stepson, Herbert Calfin Edwards preceded her in heath.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today. Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
