Florence J. Boes, age 93, of Spring Lake passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010, at Heartwood Hospice in Spring Lake. She was born July 16, 1917, in Spring Lake to Albert and Jeanette (Hoebeke) Zuidema. She was married to Joe Boes on March 26, 1936 in Zeeland, and he preceded her in death on October 17, 1998.
Florence resided in Spring Lake all of her life where she was a homemaker to her children and a caregiver to many while her husband operated Boulevard Used Cars. She was a member of the Spring Lake Presbyterian Church and a member of the Ladies Circle. Her loving and caring personality touched everyone she came in contact with. She was a nurse without a degree to so many. Florence enjoyed following all sporting events at Spring Lake, especially her grandchildren's, watching the Tigers, going to garage sales, and playing bridge.
She is lovingly remembered by 2 daughters: JoAnn (Dale) Chittenden of Spring Lake, Cindy (Robin) Holmes of Nunica; 2 sons: Bruce (Mary) Boes of Spring Lake, Wayne (Carol) Boes of Nunica; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Caroline (Robert) VanSchelven of Hilton Head Island, SC, Cornelia "Cork" Batts of Spring Lake; a brother, Howard ("Addy") Zuidema of Little Rock Village, AR; several special nieces and nephews; and many special caring friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, John (Stella) Zuidema.
The service for Florence will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Interment will be at Spring Lake Cemetery.
