Captain Bruce K. Clark, 43, formally of Spencerport, NY, died May 1, 2012 in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan.

Clark was assigned to A Company, Troop Command, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, Texas. He was deployed to Afghanistan with Joint Services in March 2012, and was assigned as Chief Nurse of the Forward Surgical Element in Tarin Kowt.

Bruce was born and raised in Addison, MI. He graduated from Addison HS in 1986. He was a volunteer EMT and fireman for the Addison Fire Department.

In 2000, Bruce moved to Spencerport, NY with his wife and worked as a surgical technician at Highland Hospital and as a volunteer at the Spencerport Fire Dept. He received his B.S. in Nursing in 2006, graduating Cum Laude from State University of New York College at Brockport.

In the fall of 2006, Bruce joined the US Army Medical Corps. He and his family were first stationed in Hawaii at the Tripler Army Medical Center at Fort Shafter. There he worked on the Telemetry floor, and as the Nurse in Charge of the Allergy and Immunology, Endocrinology, Neurology and Dermatology clinics. After attending a Critical Care Nursing Course in San Antonio, TX, Bruce was stationed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center at Fort Bliss, TX, as a Critical Care Nurse.

Awards and decorations: Army Commendation Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service, Medal National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Army Service Medal.

Bruce's passions were his family, fishing with his daughters, snorkeling, hiking, stained glass, framework, a love for his faith, and the outdoors.

Bruce is survived by his wife, two daughters, his parents, and siblings. He was predeceased by his father James Hallenbeck.
