She was born June 16, 1925 in Harrisonburg, and was the daughter of the late Herman Lewis and Lina McCauley Dorman.
Mildred was a lifetime resident of this area, and a member of the Port Republic United Methodist Church, and the Port Republic Senior Citizens. She worked for 13 years at Metro Pants, and along with her husband, was the Co-owner of George's 66 here in Harrisonburg for 11 years. Mildred loved her family, she loved life, and she loved to laugh.
On February 23, 1946 she married George Arbury Kyger, who preceded her in death on May 12, 1998.
Surviving are one son, Larry Kyger and companion Debbie Simmons of Port Republic, one daughter, Debbie Pruitt and husband Darrell of Weyers Cave, 2 grandchildren, Bonnie Gibson of Port Republic and Kelly Pruitt of Richmond, and 2 great grandchildren, Christian and Caressa Gibson, and special niece, Patricia Sandidge.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday morning at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Palmer and Rev. Marlene Chandler. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 AM on Friday at the Funeral Home before the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Grottoes Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1187 or the Grottoes Fire Department, P. O. Box 67, both in Grottoes, Va. 24441.
