Thomas Pelham Middleton of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, in a local hospital.
He was born on Aug. 17, 1928, in Andalusia, Ala., to the late Dr. William Robert Middleton and Mary Clyde Pelham Middleton. He was reared by his uncle and aunt, the late Thomas James Middleton and Rosa Lyon Middleton in Collirene, Ala.
Mr. Middleton attended Auburn University and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from civil service at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., with 30 years of service.
Tom was married to Joanne Newman of Tyler, Ala., in 1956, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Grace Jones Middleton of Fort Walton Beach; son,...of Montgomery, Ala.; daughters,...of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and...of Westfield, N.J.; sister, June Middleton Albaugh of Short Hills, N.J. He is also survived by four grandsons,....
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Bethany Baptist Church in Collirene, Ala., with the Revs. Robert Elwood Sims and George Karlton Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Collirene Cemetery. Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach, and Lawrence Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Citizens Parkway, Selma, Ala., are in charge of arrangements.

"I do not believe there is a findagrave cemetery listing for the Old Rives Cemetery. There is one for the Rives Cemetery but that is a different one.

"The Old Rives Cemetery is a private family cemetery on private property in Collirene....Local residents are very protective of the property. The cemetery is very old with graves going back to the early 1800's...."
