Mr. Dean was born April 1, 1938 in Rockingham County near Elkton, to the late Ottie Cleveland and Della Marie Meadows Dean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dallas C. Dean, and a sister, Norma J. Cooper.
Mr. Dean attended the Elkton Pentecostal Church. He was a heavy equipment operator for various companies in the area, and retired from the Town of Elkton. He could operate any heavy equipment and enjoyed his family, camping, hunting, fishing and bluegrass music.
On May 3, 1958 he married Margie M. Shifflett Dean, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Don Dean and wife, Jennifer Renee and Allen Dean and wife, Pam, all of Elkton; a brother, Larry O. Dean and wife, Janet of Elkton; a sister, Joyce A. Dofflemyer and husband, Gene of Elkton; five grandchildren, Michelle, Jessica and Kimberly Dean, Ethan and Jasmine Dean; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 2:00, with the Rev. Ray Halverson and the Rev. Carter Dean officiating. Burial will follow at the Elk Run Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00~8:00 at the funeral home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the home of his son, Don at anytime (298-8690).
