Indiantown Gap National Cemetery is in a very rural part of northern Lebanon County, named for the "Indiantown" that was there in the 1700's and the creek that cuts through the gap in the Blue Mountains from the north.
Indiantown Gap Military Reservation is directly north
of the cemetery - that's the home of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Our "citizen soldiers" used to train at Mt. Gretna [south of
Annville] from the Civil War. They moved to the Gap in the early 1900's when the rich people from the cities began to build cabins at Mt. Gretna for summer use.
