Mr. Stalter was born in Warren County and had lived in New Virginia before moving to Indianola three years ago. He was a farmer. He worked as a custodian for the West Des Moines school district.
He was an Army veteran of WW II. He was a member of Fairview Christian Union Church near Indianola. He enjoyed fishing and pitching horseshoes.
He is survived by a daughter, Dayna Schrier of Des Moines; five brothers, Gale, Ray and Jerry of Indianola, Keith of Euma, AZ, and Jim of Adel; five sisters, Darleen Goodrich of Prole, Mary Adamson, Rose Koner and Carolyn Knouse, all of Indianola, and Shirley Bishop of Eminence, MO; and a grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley.
