A native of Gaffney, Mr. Blanton was married to Peggy Cribb Blanton and was the son of Lyman and the late Frances Jones Blanton of Blacksburg. Mr. Blanton retired from the United States Navy after 21 years of service and worked as a supervisor for Duke Energy. He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and he was also a Shriner.
In addition to his wife and father, Mr. Blanton is survived by a son, Sgt. First Class Kristopher M. Barnette, of Dahlonega, GA; daughters Jayci E. Blanton of Gaffney and Angel Dawn Blanton Cash of Gaffney; a brother, Dr. Bruce Blanton, of Fayetteville, NC; one granddaughter, Graycie Cash of Gaffney, and a son-in-law, Johnny Ray Cash, of Gaffney.
