James "Bubba" Walter Herring III, 29, of Elkton, passed away April 10, 2012, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Bubba was born July 28, 1982, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of James Walter Herring Jr. and Lori Corliss Herring of Port Republic. His grandparents, Vernon and Louise Corliss and James and Louise Herring, preceded him in death.

Bubba was a graduate of Spotswood High School in 2000, and also attended Massanutten Vo-Tech, taking up carpentry and electrical work. He worked for Wal-Mart in Waynesboro and Harrisonburg for a number of years. Everyone he met loved him. He liked to joke with all his friends. He was kind and generous and would share anything he had. He loved to travel, be outdoors, bonfires, music, spending time with friends and family, and, most of all, his children.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a companion, Mychele Thomas, of Elkton; three children, Cody Hensley, Haley Morris and Trinity Herring, all of Elkton; two brothers, Tracey Herring of Port Republic, and Norm of Grottoes; two sisters, Tabatha Herring of Broadway and Tristan Herring of Port Republic.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean and the Rev. Clyde Plum officiating. Burial will follow at the Elk Run Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Elkton.
