Sheldon R. Bell of Buchanan died on September 30, 2002. He was 82. Mr. Bell worked as a machinist for NY Central and also operated Shell Bell's Auto Repair in Buchanan, NY. He was born April 20, 1920 in Newburgh, NY, to William and Elizabeth Bartlett Bell. He served in the US Navy during WWII as an airplane mechanic. On November 9, 1947 he married Marie Schiavo at Assumption Church in Peekskill. Locally he was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association and a Golden Gloves Champion. He is survived by wife Marie Bell of Buchanan, NY, children Michael (Rosemary) Bell, James (Arlene) Bell, Laureen (James) Sharp, Susan Bell, Ann Marie (Leonard) Morin, Peter ( Susan Bell), John (Elaine), Joan (Daniel) Gagnon, Thomas (Kimberly) Bell, two brothers Wesley Bell, Kenneth Bell, two sisters, Eleanor DiStefano, Deanna Mandel. Grandfather of Michael, Christopher, Mark, Steven, Stacey, Kyle, Alicia, Kevin, Brian, Christine, Andrew, Amanda, Jacqueline, Julie, Karrie, Jeffrey and Jackson. Great grandfather of Vincent James Bell. Predeceased by a brother William. Calling hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home. The funeral Mass is Thursday 10 am at St. Christopher's Church. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Verplanck, NY.
