Clarence Aubrey Hughes, 67, of Elkton, passed away March 17, 2012, in Page County.

Mr. Hughes was born Jan. 24, 1945, in Augusta County, and was the son of the late Houston Cecil and Margaret Whitesell Hughes.

Clarence graduated from Riverheads High School and was a member of the Upper Room Church at Elkton and the Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292. He was a "Seabee" having served with the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and retired from the Navy Reserves. He was also employed with Rockingham County Schools as a bus driver.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Roxann "Roxie" Meadows Hughes; a son, Adam Hughes and wife, Megan; daughters, Tammy Davis/Chestnut and husband, Berlie, and Julie Davis, all of Elkton; and two grandsons, Nick and Zachery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Addison Hughes and William Guy Hughes.

The Rev. Barbara Hensley and Pastor Carter Dean will conduct the funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the Upper Room Church in Elkton. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Jollett Cemetery in Page County. The casket will remain closed.
