Ivan Leroy Hilliard, age 77, of Templeton, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning surrounded by his family.
He was born in Widnoon, PA on September 11, 1934, the son of Harold and Minnie (Williams) Hilliard.
Mr. Hilliard was a resident of the Templeton area his entire life. He was a 1954 graduate of Redbank High School and was a Methodist by faith. Ivan proudly served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Germany from 1957-1959. He worked as a TV repairman for Heckman TV from 1965 through 1988 and then for Hilliard TV from 1988 through 1994. He previously worked for New Bethlehem Tile Company.
Ivan had a gentle and patient nature, evident in his ability to tinker and repair electronics. He loved being at home with his pet cat, Mr. Kitty who he often walked on a leash. Despite his love for his cat, nothing came close to the love he had for his family and the time he spent with his wife and their children and grandson. He will be missed and remembered fondly by family, friends and former patrons of his business.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 44 years, Linda (Wineberg) Hilliard, whom he married April 6, 1968; a son, Michael Hilliard of Widnoon; a daughter, Julie Hilliard and companion Derek and his two children of Kittanning; one grandson, Nathan Hilliard of Kittanning; a sister, Althea Jones of New Bethlehem; and six nephews.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home, 758 Main St., Rimersburg, PA.
Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the funeral home, with Ivan's nephew, Lay Speaker, Colbert E. Jones officiating. Military honors will immediately follow the services conducted by the Rimersburg American Legion Post 454 and VFW Post 7132.
Burial will be in Kellersburg Methodist Cemetery, Madison Twp., Armstrong Co..
