Gene started and operated the famous Claremont Cafe where everyone who has ever been in the area has eaten. The legendary menu consists of hamburgers, hot dogs, and other sandwiches plus full breakfasts. The cafe became a gathering place for locals to eat and socialize.
A family enterprise, his children worked with him until poor health forced his retirement, then son Larry continued the cafe with the help of his siblings and other relatives. Now Larry is retired and the next generations serve the burgers and dogs to legions of faithful patrons, some who eat and run, and some stop and visit for awhile.
